If you are looking to spend several days in an authentic, simple and comfortable house, on the banks of a river, in a quiet rural village on the Champagne tourist route, discovering the landscapes of the Marne and Surmelin valleys, their vineyards, fields and forests, walking, cycling, motorcycling or driving, the heritage of churches, castles and the memory of the great wars, we welcome you to our house.
Our terraces are on the banks of the river Surmelin, overlooking the wash house and the footbridge to the village, the perfect place to relax to the sound of nature and water.
Our breakfast is complete: croissant, baguette, coffee or tea, homemade jam, freshly squeezed orange juice, cheese and ham, and if available an egg or fresh yoghurt.
We can prepare a simple evening meal – on request when booking – but we prefer to support the good local restaurants that keep our community alive.

We try to make everyone feel welcome.
We speak English, French, Dutch and German as conversation is important here.
We offer bikers a ‘biker’ package at a friendly price, with prior booking: parking in our closed garage, a simple meal in the evening, tumble dryer and tools available just in case.
Friendly dogs are welcome in our ‘Passerelle’ room, spacious enough for a bench or basket. The village and its vineyards are perfect for a walk.
One bedroom, its bathroom and the whole house from the entrance to the terrace are wheelchair accessible.
7kW WallBox charging point at cost price.

2 comfortable rooms
We only rent 2 rooms to make you feel at home. The layout of the house and rooms is authentic, artistic and not luxurious, although each room has its own private bathroom and toilet. The riverside terrace is superb for breakfast and relaxation.
Passerelle

The Passerelle room, on the ground floor near the entrance to the house, has a walk-in shower room with private toilet, a small lounge and a desk. It overlooks the small village bridge and, of course, the river. The two single beds can be converted into a double bed.
Surmelin

The ‘Surmelin’ room has a double bed, private bathroom and toilet and, above all, its own terrace overlooking the small bridge to the village, the river and our garden, the vineyards and the church. The room is on the first floor of the house, accessible by the authentic staircase.
Who are we ?
Alain (°1965) is a sociologist who had a career in management, consultancy of organisations and in corporate communication.
In 2018, he said goodbye to the notorious ‘rat race’ and opted for a simpler existence.
Today, though, he is still a jewellery designer. In his own workshop, he casts his own collection of metal jewellery on single pieces.
He and Greet remodelled the B&B since 2012 and have been running it full-time since 2018.
Greet (°1966) is an interior designer with 30 years of experience in contemporary art with her own art gallery in Leuven (B). You will surely notice the traces of this professional activity on the walls of our B&B. Dozens of originals, etchings and lithographs from her own collection brighten up the rooms as if it were a small art gallery. Greet has worked as an interior design consultant specialising in contemporary design furniture. Today, she is sales manager at a Belgian tannery.
We are the grandparents of Phéline (°2018) & Leandro (°2021) and the friend of Minia, cane corso (°2021).
Just as we love our authentic house with all its charm and advantages, we want to return to an authentic environment. We leave our garden untouched.
We accept people as they are and expect you to be tolerant, open-minded, non-judgemental and let everyone ‘be’. We are committed to liberty, equality, fraternity and secularism. No matter what letter of ‘HHLGBTQIA+’ or what colour of skin you have, you’re welcome here and we’ll take care of you.
