le Surmelin

A destination in its own right

We welcome those who are looking to spend a few days in an authentic, simple and comfortable house on the bank of a river in a quiet rural village in the Champagne.
We are not looking for luxurious decoration, although the house and rooms are full of art and each room has its private bathroom and toilet. The riverside terrace is superb for breakfast and relaxing.

We can prepare you – on demand – a simple but homemade evening meal or we propose you a very fine local restaurant.
We welcome dogs, ensure a parkingplace for bikes and motorbikes and the house and one room is wheelchair accessible.

We deliberately choose an  atmosphere of art, unique ‘homemade’ jewellery, natural beekeeping and a project of rewilding our gardens, taking care of all birds, rodents and insects.
We try to make everyone feel welcome, and we like “égalité, fraternité & liberté”. We accept people as they are and expect you to be tolerant, open minded, non judging and letting ‘be’ everyone.
Whatever letter of “HLGBTQIA+” you are are, we care for you. We speak English, French, Dutch and German to get in contact with as much people as possible.

In our top-menu-bar you discover our way of life, the house, art & jewellery, bees and rewilding.

The landscapes of the valleys of the Marne and the Surmelin, their vineyards, fields and forests, invite you to walk, cycle or ride a motorbike or car along the heritage of churches, castles, medieval buildings and the memory of the great wars.
